Cargo

Are there any other vehicle which has a cargo area as versatile as this?

Dashboard, Another View

This is the view from the left.

Gear Lever

To keep the in between the driver and the front passenger neat, the gear lever is placed like the above.

Meter Display

Notice that there is no engine temperature?

The Controls

The focus point in front.

Storage Upfront

Apart from the glove box and the door pockets, these are the extra storage for the pilot and the front passenger.

Foot Brake

Ipsum does not come with a handbrake. Instead, a foot brake is provided as shown here. Unlike Mercedes system, where you pull a lever to release the foot brake, in an Ipsum you need to press again to release it.

2nd Blower

This control is placed behind the driver's headrest. The second and the third row each has 2 aircond vents.

This controls only the blower speed. The temperature is controlled via the front control.

Under hot climate, the vehicle can be cooled evenly.

No TEMS Control

This control is located beneath the turning indicator stalk. On the 240s, you will find the suspension settings control here.

On top left is the switch to turn on the front blind camera.

Dashboard

This is how my dashboard look like. I think the steering looks less sporty compared to the one fitted on the 240s which was posted before but I think mine looks more elegance.

During my trip to Genting, I find that the lack of gear change control on the steering were not missed.

I however like the latest Ipsum steering. I prefer having the control to radio etc on the steering.

Back to Johor Bahru

From Genting, I went to 1 Utama, then to Ikea which is fortunately having a sale.

My wife loaded our Ipsum with many items which usually are not possible for us to purchase because our Perdana is not big enough.

Before going home to Johor Bahru, I filled up with Shell Super near Eastin Hotel. The journey from Gombak to Genting until this point of time costed about 24 sen per km.

After reaching Johor Bahru, I filled up with Shell Super (again) at Tampoi. The journey costed 17 sen per km.

I drove as if I did not want to spend too much time on the highway but at the same time obeying traffic rules. I think I'll get better km with Shell Regular.

After Claims

My Ipsum's front absorber, fan belt and engine mountings have been replaced.

The front absorber now absorb better. It is not as hard as before. But with harder front absorber, the handling is much touter. It is easier to point the nose at the correct direction. Now, I have to drive slower at corners.

The vibration from the engine at low engine speed is no longer felt. The car felt calm and quiet.

Now, I feel that this is a better car than my Perdana. I am now an Ipsum proud owner. The low satisfaction I had when tooking delivery of this Ipsum has been repaced with 'it's all worth it' kind of feeling.

Reconditioned imported car is the way to go!

Genting We Went

Yesterday morning I travelled to Genting Highland. I made the booking for a deluxe room at the Resort Hotel. As this is the low season, I got a really affordable rate for the room.

I filled in with Shell Super prior to entering the PLUS highway (Gombak toll Plaza).

The Drive

Along this post, the comparison I made shall be with my Perdana V6. I noted that such comparison is unpracticable since both vehicle does not belong to the same category. But, it is the only comparison available to me since I have only driven these vehicles on this particular route.

The Power - never lacking of it. Never I feel that I need more power. The engine chose the right gear and deliver the right power everytime. With Perdana, sometime I had to accelerate more to ask the vehicle to choose a lower gear.

The limitation was the Ipsum's handling. It feels like the vehicle is ever willing to tackle each corner but something is pulling the Ipsum from behind or side. Unlike Perdana which is willing to tackle any corner but the power is limited sometime.

For the record, I was travelling with my wife and 2 babies. Driving moderately to avoid any bad consequences.

Overall, I think the drive was terrific. Unless I needed to be quick, there is no complaint with my Ipsum.

Further Claims

As promised by Mutiara Motor, today my front absorber is replaced with a new one (KYB Japan), the engine mountings and fan belt are replaced.

Apart from that, they discovered that the anti-roll bar needed replacement, thus I got that too.

Yet to drive the Ipsum.
